The closer I get to 40, the more I feel like something has changed.
I still have worries, regrets, and moments when I have no idea what I’m doing. But things that used to consume me don’t seem to have the same power anymore.
When I was younger, I wanted an explanation for everything.
Why did someone stop loving me?
Why didn’t something work out?
Why did I miss that opportunity?
Why didn’t life turn out the way I expected?
Now I’m starting to realize that not everything comes with an answer.
Sometimes, peace comes from no longer needing one.
The same goes for love.
When we’re younger, relationships can feel like everything. Being loved can feel like proof that we matter, and losing someone can feel like losing part of ourselves.
But the older I get, the more I feel that love matters without needing to be the center of life.
Maybe growing older isn’t about finally having all the answers.
Maybe it’s about becoming more comfortable with the questions.
